Work

I create brands with personality and experiences that hold together.
Most of my work lives in hospitality, often starting with a name or a logo and growing into menus, websites, illustrations, cocktails, and stories people remember.

Ikigai

visual identity / experience design

An evening to celebrate connection, creativity,
and the joy of shared experience.

The event was inspired by the Japanese concept of ikigai, which means a reason for being.

In Western culture, it is often interpreted as the pursuit of purpose or career alignment, but at its core, it is about finding joy and meaning in everyday life.

Identity inspiration was drawn from classic elements like hanko stamps and chef's knife branding, reimagined with a modern, cross-cultural twist.

Key Elements

The Celtic knot motif reinforced the theme of connection and purpose, reflecting the unity at the heart of the collaboration.

The name is translated using Katakana instead of the traditional Kanji, symbolising the blending of multiple cultures.

Menu headers appear in Katakana to add rhythm and create a unified visual language that feels modern and authentic.

Experience Design

In addition to branding identity, my role also included beverage direction and music curation.

The playlist begins in calm reflection, easing guests into the room with gentle, welcoming sounds. As the night unfolds, the rhythm shifts through Japanese jazz, playful J-pop, and warm old-school hip-hop. Each transition carries the energy forward, guiding guests on a quiet journey from serenity to celebration.

I collaborated with chefs and other hospitality professionals to successfully host this event in November 2021.

Graze

branding / illustration

Bringing the personality of a local wine bar to life
through colour and character.

Tucked in the hillside suburb of Kelburn, Graze is a neighborhood wine bar that celebrates the color and abundance of Aotearoa. Rooted in sustainability and community, the kitchen showcases local, seasonal ingredients through a vibrant vegetarian and pescetarian menu.

Visual Identity

The visual identity takes cues from the bold patterns and playful geometry of Memphis Design. Vivid hues of magenta, tangerine, cobalt, and lime create a palette that feels both nostalgic and modern, echoing the energy of a shared meal among friends.
